Vintage Tractor Winner
The winner of the Vintage Tractor was Eunan Kennedy, Kilmacreddin, Inver, Co Donegal. Congratulations to him. The winning ticket was drawn by Country Singer, Derek Ryan at a dance in the Allingham Hotel, Bundoran on Friday night last October 12th.

The Club was delighted with the great response to this fundraising draw and would like to thank everyone who bought tickets and helped in any way. Overall it was a great success.

Many people helped out over the past ten months, since the project started on January the 9th , and Melvin Gaels is very thankful to them all. It was a very enjoyable night last Friday night when the whole Community got together for the Dance and draw in the Allingham Hotel. It was great to see the Fenagh Cup and many of the Championship winning Gaels team there. Thanks to Peter Mc Intyre and all the staff of the Allingham Hotel for making the night so enjoyable.

We Did It !
There were great scenes of delight at the final whistle on Sunday evening in Pairc Sean when the Senior team beat neighbours and ‘Four in a Row’ winners Glencar/Manorhamilton in the Senior County Final. There was a great crowd at the Community Centre and all along the way from Glenade to Tullaghan. The celebrations no doubt will continue for some time. In the game itself the Gaels held the upper hand from start to finish and never allowed the reigning champions to get in front. The final score was Melvin Gaels 2-7, Glencar/Manorhamilton 0-7. The margin could have been much greater if the Gaels had taken all the chances they had, particularly in the first half. There were fine displays from many Gaels players on the day and there were a few contenders for ‘Man of the Match’. Congratulations to Paul Brennan who was the winner. Well done to all the players who have done the Club so proud over the whole year and also to Billy, Liam and Aiden who have worked so hard. They got their deserved reward on Sunday. A word of thanks to all who helped to make Sunday such a memorable day in Pairc Sean and in the homecoming celebrations. It was a proud day for the Club and all associated with it, all over the world. Hopefully this will be repeated on a few more occasions by these great players.

The Final
The long awaited Senior County Final takes place in Pairc Sean at 3.30pm on Sunday next. The Gaels go in as underdogs when they take on Glencar/Manorhamilton who have the experience of winning the last four finals. The Gaels have performed very well over the last two years and they are well capable of taking on any opposition. We wish all the lads, Billy, Liam and Aiden Good Luck on Sunday.

The Club are hoping that the Gaels supporters, young and old, from Kinlough, Glenade, Rossinver, Tullaghan, Askill and Ballintrillick and much further afield come along on Sunday and support this team who gave us so much to cheer about this year and last.

Change of Date for Senior Final
The County Board have changed the date of the Senior Final, between Melvin Gaels and four in a row winners and neighbours Glencar/Manorhamilton. Because of the All Ireland Hurling Final Replay the game will now take place at 3.30pm on Sunday October the 7th.

Great Championship win for Minors
On Sunday afternoon, in Ballinamore, the Minors defeated Annaduff to win the 13 a side Minor Championship. The first half was close, but the Gaels turned on the style in the second and played some fantastic football to win very comfortably in the end. There were great celebrations in Kinlough when these young lads arrived back.

The future looks bright for this group of players and there’s no doubt they are capable of bringing more silverware back to Kinlough in the coming years.

Well done to all the panel and their mentors Liam Gilmartin and John Gallagher.

In the Final!
On Saturday evening there were jubilant scenes in Pairc Sean when the Senior team comfortably defeated a young Aughawillan team to reach the Senior Final against near neighbours Glencar/Manorhamilton on Sunday September 7th. This is a fantastic achievement when you consider that this Melvin Gaels team took part in, and won, the Intermediate Championship in 2011.

All the panel of players and the mentors, Billy, Liam and Aiden are to be congratulated.

Hopefully this will be a great sporting occasion between the two North Leitrim teams – a very successful Glencar/Manor team, going for five in a row, and an upcoming Melvin Gaels team. We all look forward to the last Sunday in September!

Thanks to Our Sponsors
The Club would like to thank Erin Recyclers for the very kind sponsorship of Jerseys for the Senior team.

Congratulations to the Minor Team that defeated Carrigallen last week to qualify for the 13 a side final which will be against Annaduff. No date has yet been selected for this final. Well done to all.

On Saturday at 6.30pm, in Pairc Sean, Carrick on Shannon, the Senior team take on Aughawillan in the 2012 Senior Football Championship Semi Final.

It would be nice to see a good support for the Gaels on Saturday evening.

A Fantastic Win
Congratulations to the Under 14s who had a fantastic win over Allen Gaels on Monday evening in the 13 a side Championship Final in Pairc Sean. The final score was Melvin Gaels 5-11, Allen Gaels 1-04.

This was a great team performance and it would be difficult to pick a “Man of the Match” as they all played so well.

Well done to all the lads and mentors Martin and Patsy.

Good Luck to the Leitrim Lads
The Club would like to wish the Leitrim team and mentors good luck in the game against Wicklow on Saturday evening.

Good Luck to the Gaels lads, Paul, Emlyn, Conor and Fabian.

A Lot of Football at the weekend
For reasons that are difficult to understand, the Club had to play a Division 3 game on Friday , another Division 3 game on Saturday and a Shield game on Sunday. With about forty adult players available to the Club and four of these ineligible due to Senior County commitments, not counting injuries, it was always going to be difficult.

Nevertheless great credit must go to the players who put in such a great effort and a good few played in all three games.

On Friday evening the second team travelled to Carrick on Shannon and came away with well very deserved draw against St Marys, Final Score was St Marys 2-05, Melvin Gaels 1-08.

On Saturday evening they made another long trip to Balinamore and suffered a narrow defeat to Sean O Heslins. Final score Sean O Heslins, 1-09, Melvin Gaels 0-10. Melvin Gaels played the whole second half of this game with fourteen players after a player got two yellow cards in the first half.

On Sunday at 1.30pm the Shield game against Aughawillan took place in Melvin Park. The Gaels got a deserved victory in this game on a final score of Melvin Gaels 2-11, Aughawillan 1-08. The Gaels had to finish this game with fourteen players, not because they had a player sent off but because they suffered injuries to players and had used all substitutes.

The Club would like to thank all players who turned out for all three games and, although some were barely able to walk at half three on Sunday, they did not complain.

With mass emigration, player burn out, and competition with other sports it’s hard to see how the events of last weekend can help.

Believe it or not there is no adult game scheduled for this weekend!

Senior League v Kiltubrid
The senior team had a good win over Kiltubrid on Saturday evening in Melvin Park.

Gale force wind and driving rain made it difficult for both teams. Melvin Gaels seemed to cope better with the conditions and were in control from the beginning.
