League Final
On Sunday next at 2.30pm in Pairc Sean the Senior team take on our neighbours Glencar/Manorhamilton for the second final this year. No doubt this League Final will be the usual close encounter.
Good luck to all the lads and Billy, Aiden and Liam.
Senior League v Aughawillan
On Sunday the Senior team made the long trip to Aughawillan for the last round game of the Senior League. The Gaels came away with a comfortable win. Well done to all involved. Thanks to the Aughawillan Club for providing a very welcome cup of tea and sandwiches after the game. Thanks to all the supporters whom came to the game.
Under 21 Championship
Good luck to the Under 21 lads on Saturday when they take on Dromahaire in Drumkeerin.
Lotto
The numbers drawn in the Melvin Gaels Lotto draw held in the Village Inn, Kinlough on Sunday October 28th were 4,6,11 and 14. There was no Jackpot winner. Other winners were, €40 Patsy Mc Govern, Ardfarna, Bundoran, €20 each Michael Gillen, Tawley, Simon Foley, Kinlough and Anthony O’Reilly, Kinlough.

Dinner Dance
The Melvin Gaels Dinner Dance and presentation will take place in the Allingham Arms Hotel on Friday 7th December. The music will be by Beez Neez. Tickets will be on sale this weekend and they will cost €25 each and are available from any club member.

‘Cyclathon’ for Player Injury Fund
On Saturday October 30 the Club is holding a novelty ‘Cyclathon’ in aid of the newly formed Player Injury Fund.
This has been a tough year for the Club with two key players suffering very serious injuries.
The ‘Cyclathhon’ takes place at three locations in Kinlough at Simpsons and Spar and at the Maxol Filling Station, Tullaghan..It will atke place from 9am to 9pm and a lot of volunteers from the Club and the Community are asked to help out.
Thanks to the Ballyshannon Credit Union for their sponsorship.
So come along and join in the fun.
Under 21 v Bornacoola
The Under 21s were in hard luck when they were beaten by Bornacoola by the narrowest of margins in Ballinaglera on Monday afternoon.
Once again, as has happened so often this year with Melvin Gaels teams at all levels, the chances were created but they were not taken.
Playing with the wind in the first half, the Gaels failed to capitalize on the chances created and went in leading by two points, which was never enough.
There was some great football played by both teams but Bornacoola just edged it in the end.
Well done to Joe and all the lads.

League Game v Kiltubrid
The Seniors got a very welcome win on Saturday evening when they beat Kiltubrid on a scoreline of 1-9 to 1-7.
The Gaels started well after Kiltubrid got the opening score of the game, a point from a free. The Gaels then went into a five point lead thanks to a goal from James Bredin, two points from David Mc Sharry from frees and a Paul Mc Gurran point from play.
Then Kiltubrid got a goal and the Gaels went in at the break leading by the narrowest of margins.
In the second half the Gaels again got some good scores and went back ahead by five points with ten minutes to go. Then Kiltubrid came back once more and scored three points without reply.
The Gaels then held on for a deserved victory.
There was some great passages of play by both sides in this game which was played in near perfect conditions.
This win has means that the Gaels will play in Division 1 of the League next year.

Under 21 B Champions
On Saturday afternoon in Pairc Sean there were great celebrations when the Gaels Under 21s defeated North Leitrim neighbours, Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher in the Under 21 B Championship Final.
This was a very well contested final with both sides playing some great football. Despite all the rain, the pitch was in excellent condition, and both these teams served up a very entertaining game, particularly for the neutrals among the crowd.
The Gaels deserved their win but were pushed all the way by a very good and determined Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher team.
A goal in each half from Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher meant that the Gaels had to fight all the way.
A well worked goal, with a great finish from Packie Hill, for the Gaels midway through the second half eased the tension and put the Gaels in the driving seat. There were some great performances and many contenders for man of the match in the Gaels team, but congratulations to James Bredin who was very deserving of the award.
Congratulations to Gareth, David and Joe and all the lads.
Congratulations as well to Shane Ryan who celebrated his 18th Birthday on Saturday- a nice present for Shane, he also put in a great performance.
Variety Concert
The club is putting on a Variety Concert on Friday December 4 which will feature a lot of local talent.
This concert is part of the celebrations which have been going on throughout the year to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Gaels first senior championship win in 1959 and the 125 Anniversary of the GAA.
Tickets for the concert are on sale at the moment and will only cost €5.
More details of the concert will be published in the coming weeks.
The acts taking part in the concert are all from the locality and feature, the Farragher School of Dancers, Fusebox, a sketch with local actors , Kinlough Playschool group and many more.
Presentation and Open Night
Bord na nOg are holding an Open Night and presentation on Friday night November 27.
This night is open to all parents and children.

Under 21 B Championship Semi final
On Saturday afternoon, in Leitrim Village, the young Gaels had a great win over a very good Bornacoola team in the semi final of the Under 21 B Championship.
This was an entertaining game from start to finish and both teams played some very good football.
The final score was Melvin Gaels 1-9, Bornacoola 0-8.
Well done to all.
The final now takes place next Saturday in Pairc Sean at 2.30pm. This will be a North Leitrim Final against Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher.
This will be another tough encounter no doubt.

Variety Concert
The club is putting on a Variety Concert on Friday December 4 which will feature a lot of local talent.

Under 21 B Championship
The Gaels Under 21s had a big win over Carrigallen on Saturday evening in the Quarter Final in a game which was switched to Pairc Sean .
They dominated the game from the start and even though conditions were poor they registered some good scores. They were leading 3-5 to 0-5 at the break.
In the second half Carrigallen failed to score and the Gaels finished comfortable winners.
Final score was Melvin Gaels 7-10, Carrigallen 0-5.
The Gaels now go on to play Bornacoola in the semi-final.
Well done to all concerned.

Last Game of The Year for the Seniors
The Seniors played their final game of the League for 2009 when they took on Kiltubrid on Saturday evening last in Melvin Park.
The Kiltubrid team are in the running for a place in the League Final and were they showed more hunger than the Gaels. Kiltubrid won on a scoreline of 2-8 to 1-8.
The Gaels played some good football at times but two goals from Kiltubrid in the first half, meant that they were always playing catch-up.
All in all it was a disappointing League campaign for the Gaels in 2009.
All we can do is look forward to 2010.
Under 21
The Under 21 team take on Gortletterragh in a preliminary Round in Ballinaglera on Saturday evening at 5pm in Ballinaglera.

| Junior League v Aughawillan The Juniors had their first league win of 2009 against Aughawillan on Sunday in Melvin Park. They were in control of this game all the way through. The Gaels played their best football in the first half and went into the break leading 2-5 to 0-4. Two goals in quick succession from Fergal Gallagher put the Gaels in control. The Melvin Gaels team and scorers was- Paul Rooney, Sean Kilkenny, Stephen Clancy, Colm Mc Gowan, Shane Ryan, Joe Mc Gowan, Anthony Tiffoney, Peter Mc Gloin,Daniel Branley, Damien Sheridan, James Bredin (0-4), Gareth Foley, Fergal Gallagher (2-0),Patrick Hill (0-2) and Padraig Mc Gloin. Subs- Patrick McGowan, David Gillespie (0-2), Simon Foley, Peter O Reilly (0-1) and Peter McGowan. Melvin Gaels Lotto Draw There was no Jackpot winner. Other winners were, 40 Euro William Kerr, Kinlough, 20 Euro each, Frank Mc Sharry, Glenade, Bridie Tiffoney, Glenade and Laura Mc Gee, Drumkeerin. Leitrim Under 21 v Sligo Hard luck also to the Leitrim Senior team who were defeated by Waterford on Sunday. Good to see Emyln back again. 1962 Champions Michael McGowan and Brendan Mc Gowan had their photos in all the papers, hopefully all the publicity will not go to their heads! After forty seven years it was a great honour for all the ex players and others involved with the club. Congratulations to all concerned. |

Senior League Final
The Senior League Final takes place on Sunday next in Pairc Sean, Carrick between the Gaels and Glencar/Manorhamilton.
This will be a close encounter as usual.
Throw in for this game is 1.30pm.
Good Luck to Val, David, Liam, Michael and all the lads.
Under 21 A Championship Semi-Final
The Gaels Under 21 team were beaten by the narrowest of margins in Ballinaglera on Saturday afternoon by Glencar/Manorhamilton.
This was a very entertaining game and the game could have gone either way up until the final minutes.
The Gaels had the better of the first half but failed to take all their chances and the sides went into the break all square- five points each. The Gaels had a total of five wides to Glencar/Manorhamilton’s one.
The second half was more even with Glencar/Manor coming out on top by a single point.
This was a very entertaining game, played on a tricky surface.
Final score Melvin Gaels 0-11 Glencar/Manor 0-12.
The Gaels gave their all and have performed very well in their first year in the Under 21 A Championship. Well done to all concerned. Thanks to Ciara for providing food after the game.
Good Luck to Glencar/Manorhamilton in the Final.
