0Well Done
Congratulations to all the Leitrim team and mentors on the great win on Sunday in Markievicz Park on Sunday. It was great to see Emlyn lifting the cup. Well done to all the Gaels lads involved with the team, the Brennan brothers BB and Paul, Conor and Fabian.
Congratulations to Emlyn on being selected as Leitrim Captain this year. Good luck to all in the game against Limerick at the weekend.
“Tour de Melvin” Fun Cycle Run
A Fun Cycle Run around Lough Melvin will be held on Sunday February 17th in aid of the Melvin Gaels player’s injury fund and the Lydia Branley Trust Fund.
It will start at Kinlough Community Centre and will go around Lough Melvin finishing at the Community Centre where there will be refreshments.
Entry fee is €10 which will be donated to the funds. Registration commences at 9am. Draw on the day for prizes for entrants. Everyone welcome to take part.

Bord na nOg AGM
Melvin Gaels Bord na nOg AGM takes place on Sunday 3rd February at 7pm. All parents of players and all those interested in underage football are asked to attend.
Wearing of Mouthguards
The compulsory wearing of mouthguards in all underage grades up to and including minor for Gaelic football matches and practice sessions came in to practice on January 1 2013.
Lotto
The numbers drawn in the Melvin Gaels Lotto Draw held in the Village Inn, Kinlough on Sunday January 20th were-4, 9.19 and 21. There was no Jackpot winner. Other winners were €40 Theresa Condron, Mill Road, Kinlough, €20 each JP Gallagher, Uragh, Kinlough, James Bredin, Glenview, Kinlough and Gerard Kilkenny,Gurteendaragh, Kinlough. Good Luck to the Gaels lads, Paul Brennan, Emlyn Mulligan and Conor Sheridan and all the Leitrim lads on Sunday in Sligo. Throw in is at 3:30pm in Markievicz Park.
Lotto Results
The numbers drawn the Melvin Gaels Lotto Draw held in the Wellington Bar Sunday night last were: 1, 5, 9 and 10. There was no Jackpot winner. Other winners were: €40 Christopher Branley. The following won €20 each: Colm McGowan, Edenville, Kinlough, Emmet Kelly, 3 Oakfield Lawn, Kinlough, Karen Gillespie, Bayview Ave, Bundoran. The next draw takes place on 29th May in The Home, Rossinver. The jackpot is €2100.00
Junior Game v Dromahair
The Juniors produced another good display on Saturday evening when the secured to more points in League Division 4. This was an entertaining game with both sides playing good football in difficult enough conditions.
The Gaels controlled the game from the start and went in at the break leading by four points, 1-7 to 1-3, Declan Roper scoring 1-3.
In the second half the Gaels scored another 1-7 to finish strongly, the second goal of the game coming from Jesse McGuinness.
The final score was Melvin Gaels 2-14, Dromahair 1-7.

0| Junior League v Aughawillan The Juniors had their first league win of 2009 against Aughawillan on Sunday in Melvin Park. They were in control of this game all the way through. The Gaels played their best football in the first half and went into the break leading 2-5 to 0-4. Two goals in quick succession from Fergal Gallagher put the Gaels in control. The Melvin Gaels team and scorers was- Paul Rooney, Sean Kilkenny, Stephen Clancy, Colm Mc Gowan, Shane Ryan, Joe Mc Gowan, Anthony Tiffoney, Peter Mc Gloin,Daniel Branley, Damien Sheridan, James Bredin (0-4), Gareth Foley, Fergal Gallagher (2-0),Patrick Hill (0-2) and Padraig Mc Gloin. Subs- Patrick McGowan, David Gillespie (0-2), Simon Foley, Peter O Reilly (0-1) and Peter McGowan. Melvin Gaels Lotto Draw There was no Jackpot winner. Other winners were, 40 Euro William Kerr, Kinlough, 20 Euro each, Frank Mc Sharry, Glenade, Bridie Tiffoney, Glenade and Laura Mc Gee, Drumkeerin. Leitrim Under 21 v Sligo Hard luck also to the Leitrim Senior team who were defeated by Waterford on Sunday. Good to see Emyln back again. 1962 Champions Michael McGowan and Brendan Mc Gowan had their photos in all the papers, hopefully all the publicity will not go to their heads! After forty seven years it was a great honour for all the ex players and others involved with the club. Congratulations to all concerned. |
