The Late Peter Feeley
There was shock and sadness in the Club and in the wider Community at the news of the sad and sudden death of Peter Feeley, Moniengaugagh, Glenade.

Peter was a very popular player with the Gaels before going off to work in England. He was always a great supporter of Melvin Gaels and of Leitrim down the years. He was there to celebrate on October the 4th, 1998 when the Gaels beat hot favourites Sean O’Heslins to win the Senior Final. Last year, fourteen years later, almost to the day, October the 7th, Peter was back again in Pairc Sean, to see his beloved Gaels beat four in a row winners Glencar/Manorhamilton to win the Senior Final again. This time Peter was even more delighted because his nephew, Stephen Clancy, played a great game for the Gaels. He was a proud man at the final whistle and his broad smile said it all.

Deepest Sympathy is extended to his sister, Mary Clancy, brothers, Con, Pat and Martin and all his many relatives and many friends.

May He Rest in Peace.

Great Night of Celebrations
Friday night in the Allingham Arms Hotel Bundoran was a night when Melvin Gaels celebrated what was a fantastic year for the small North Leitrim Club. This year has turned out to be one of the most successful in the Club’s history, when the Gaels won the Leitrim Senior County Championship, beating rivals and four ‘in a row winners’, Glencar/Manorhamilton in the final. As well, the Minors, Under 16’s and Under 14’s won their respective Championships. There was a lot to celebrate on Friday night, and Donegal All-Ireland winner, David Walsh, came along to present the Senior medals. David congratulated the team and said it was a great achievement for such a small club remarked how bright the future looks for Melvin Gaels, having done so well at underage. David Mc Sharry, Senior team captain presented the minor medals on the night.

Billy Gavigan, senior manager, complimented all the players for the fantastic effort they put in over the year. Brendan Brennan (BB) was selected as Senior Player of the year and Patrick Mc Gowan was selected as Intermediate Player of the year. A presentation was made to Club Chairman, Dessie Sheridan for all his hard work and dedication to Melvin Gaels over the years.

Friday night was a night to remember for all the people of Kinlough and surrounding areas.

Connacht Championship
The long trip to Kiltoom on Sunday proved fruitless for the seniors when they were well beaten by St Brigids playing on their home ground. Why a game like this has to be played on a club’s home ground is hard to understand. Nevertheless, in the first half of the game the Gaels were the better team and should have gone in at the break well ahead. In the second half the experience of the home side told and they finished the game well ahead. The scoreline did not do the Gaels justice as they missed a lot of chances right throughout the game.

A word of thanks to all the supporters who made the long trip to the outskirts of Athlone for the game and well done to all the lads and the mentors who have done the Club proud this year

Under 16 Champions!
The Under 16 team added a third Championship at Under age for the Gaels when they followed the Under 14s and the Minors to win the 13 a side Championship on Saturday evening in Pairc Seam this was a spirited performance by these young lads and they dominated the game from the throw in. Kiltubrid fought hard, but were outplayed by this very impressive Gaels team.

Congratulations and well done to all the lads and to mentors, Mark Cleary, Blaine Mulligan and Paul Rooney.

Club Hoodies
Anyone wishing to buy the new Club Hoodies please note that they are now for sale at Mc Gowan’s Spar, Kinlough.

Connacht Club Championship
After the great win in the County Final, as underdogs, the Senior team now travel to Kiltoom in Roscommon on Sunday to take on St. Brigid’s in the Connacht Championship. Given that St. Brigid’s are playing on their own Club Ground and were All Ireland finalists, the Gaels go in again as very much as second best.

There is no doubt this young Melvin Gaels team that has performed excellently over the last two years will perform well again and is well capable of beating any team on the day.

Good Luck to all the lads and Billy, Liam and Aiden.

There was a fantastic crowd in Pairc Sean to support the team in the County Final and even though it’s a much longer journey this time, we hope that as many as possible will travel and give great support to all the lads who have done Kinlough so proud over the last two years.

The throw in time for the game on Sunday is 2.30pm. For anyone who has not been in Kiltoom before it’s situated approximately three miles on the Roscommon side of Athlone just off the Roscommon/Athlone Road. (Google Map Streetview)

Great Championship win for Minors
On Sunday afternoon, in Ballinamore, the Minors defeated Annaduff to win the 13 a side Minor Championship. The first half was close, but the Gaels turned on the style in the second and played some fantastic football to win very comfortably in the end. There were great celebrations in Kinlough when these young lads arrived back.

The future looks bright for this group of players and there’s no doubt they are capable of bringing more silverware back to Kinlough in the coming years.
