Club Notes 17.05.2010
0Lá na gClub
The Club celebrated Lá na gClub with a Family Sports day in Melvin Park on Sunday week last.
The sun shone and young and old took part in the many activities available on the day.
There was football for all ages and some old faces were on show late in the evening and it was obvious that the talent was still there, albeit in slower motion.
It was a great fun day for all, with Puc Fada, Nail Driving, Pillow Fighting, Obstacle Courses, “ The Square Chicken” Bottle Stall and many more interesting events.
Everyone enjoyed the day and a word of thanks must go to the many people who helped to make it all so successful.
Lotto
The numbers drawn in the Lotto Draw held in the Wellington Bar on Sunday Night were- 1,9,11 and 20.
There was no Jackpot winner.
Other winners were, €40 Paddy Mc Aleenan, Bundoran, €20 each, Hugo Gilmartin, Edenville, Lisa Tighe, Athboy, Co Meath and Ben Higgins, Aghadunvane, Kinlough.
Next Draw in The Home, Rossinver on Sunday May 30.

Club Notes 12.05.2010
0Senior Game v Drumreilly
The Seniors had a good win over Drumreilly in Melvin Park on Saturday evening.
The game was played in ideal conditions and there was some good football played by both teams.
The first half was very even with Drumreilly going two points ahead before the Gaels got going with a point from Fabian Mc Morrow. Pat Gallagher added another point to draw level and Joe Tiffoney scored a very good point but had to go off injured soon after. Good to see Joe back again. Drumreilly came back with two mare scores , the Gaels went two points ahead at the break with two frees from David Mc Sharry and a great point from Sub, Jonathon Connolly.
The Gaels played the better football in the second half and good scores from BB Brennan, Jonathon Connolly and David Mc Sharry put the Gaels in control and when young Declan Roper scored a very good goal there was no doubt about the result.
Drumreilly had a couple of goal chances near the end but the Gaels finished strongly.
Final score was Melvin Gaels 1-13 Drumreilly 0-6.
The Melvin Gaels team and scorers was: Gareth Phelan, Colm Mc Gowan, James Phelan, Shane Ryan, Fabian Mc Morrow (0-1), Conor Sheridan, Paul Mc Gurran, Martin Mc Carron, BB Brennan (0-1), Joe Mc Gowan, David Mc Sharry (0-4, 2 frees), Pat Gallagher (0-1), Joe Tiffoney (0-1), Daniel Branley (0-2), Declan Roper (1-0).
Subs: Jonathon Connolly(0-2) for Joe Tiffoney, Stephen Clancy (0-1) for Shane Ryan, Peter Mc Gowan, Tom Lipsett, Patrick Mc Gowan, Paul Simpson, Blaine Mulligan and Fergal Gallagher.
This was a good team performance from the Gaels. Well done to all.
Junior Game at the weekend
There will be a Junior game against Ballinaglera on Saturday evening in Melvin Park, throw in 7pm.
Lá Na gClub Sports Day
There was a large crowd in Melvin Park on Sunday and there were many interesting and enjoyable events. More details next week.

The numbers drawn were in Melvin Gaels lotto draw held in Gilbrides, Rossinver, were: 11, 13, 18, 22. There was no jackpot winner. Other winners were as follows: €40.00 Pat Maguire, Enniskillen. 0Senior Game in Dromahair
The Senior game in Dromahair did not finish as Tomas Lipsett sustained an injury near the end of the game and had to be taken to Sligo Hospital. We wish Thomas a speedy recovery.
The Club would like to thank the Ambulance Crew from Manorhamilton for their fast attendance at the scene and care they gave to Thomas.
Thanks also to everyone from both clubs who helped.
Junior Game v Dromahair
The junior game in Dromahair ended in a draw, final score Melvin gaels 2-6 Dromahair 0-12 [report].
Well done to all concerned.
Lá Na gClub Sports Day
Melvin Gaels will hold a Family Fun Sports Day for all the family on Sunday May 9 in Melvin Park at 1pm.
There will be a host of activities for all ages including: BBQ, Puc Fada, Kids Races, Cic Fada, Women’s Rounder’s, Penalty Shootout, Bonny Baby and there will be a ‘Little Miss Kinlough’ competition for girls up to 6 years of age (Dress in the club colours for this if possible).
There will also be Football Tournaments: U-8’s – Over 40’s
The clubs new Newsletter will be launched on the day.
Admission Free.

0Lá na gClub Big Football and Sports Day in Melvin Park
There was a large crowd in Melvin Park on Sunday for La na gClub . There was fun for all the family, football for all ages as well as other novelty events.
The weather was kind so this meant that the events were able to go on from 1pm to 9pm.
The pillow fighting , golf and nail-driving and Mystery Man went well.
The Club would like to thank everyone who put in such an effort to make the day such a success.
Thanks to everyone who sponsored the different events on the day.
The entertainment provided by new group Fusebox and now well known Stonefree was enjoyed by all- young and not so young. Thanks to both these groups. Their music was an inspiration to all and especially to the ‘Over Forties’ who took to the field at about 7.30pm.
Overall this was a great day and the Club would like to thank everyone who supported the celebrations in any way.

The Club would like to wish a long, happy and healthy retirement to our Chairman, Terry Tiffoney on his retirement from the ESB after forty one years.
Games at the weekend
On Saturday evening the seniors travel to Aughawilllan for a Shield game at 6.30pm and at 2pm on Sunday the Juniors are away to Bornacoola in a refixed League game.

0Senior League v Ballinamore
On Saturday afternoon the Gaels recorded their second Senior League win of the year when they defeated Sean o Heslins, Ballinamore by the narrowest of margins.
The Gaels played their best football in the first half and went into the break leading by six points even though they were playing against a strong wind. In the second half playing with the wind they struggled and it was Sean O Heslins who played some good football drawing level near the end.
The Gaels were missing number of first team players through injury but the players who came in did well.
The final score was Melvin Gaels 1-8 Sean O Heslins 0-10.
Junior League v Ballinaglera
The juniors went to Ballinaglera on Sunday and came away with a draw after having a good lead at half time.
The final score was 2-7 for Melvin Gaels and 0-13 for Ballinaglera.

Lá na gClub Big Football and Sports Day in Melvin Park
Sunday next will be a Big Sports day for Melvin Gaels in Melvin Park.
This day will be held to mark the 125th Anniversary of the GAA.
The football events will go on for most of the day, but there will be something for all.

Games at weekend
It was a mixed weekend for the Gaels with the seniors losing to Aughawillan on Saturday evening in Aughawillan by the narrowest of margins and the Juniors getting a hard fought win on Sunday against Allen Gaels in Drumshanbo.
Next Saturday the seniors take on Sean O Heslins, Ballinamore in Melvin Park at 3.30pm and the Juniors take on Ballinaglera on Monday at 2pm in Ballinaglera.

Sunday May 11 is the day when each GAA Club will be celebrating 125 Anniversary of the GAA.
Melvin Gaels will be holding activities in Melvin Park for the Club’s Celebrations.
A Marathon day of football is being planned for the day with all age groups involved and there will all types of entertainment and games to suit everyone.
More help is needed to make the day a success and all parents of underage and all club members are asked to come along.
Club Notes 20.04.2009
0Senior League v Bornacoola
The Gaels recorded their first Senior League win of 2009 when they took on Bornacoola in Melvin Park on Saturday evening last.
This was a good display by the Gaels with a lot of good performances all over the field , particularly in the first half, which they finished 1-8 to 0-1 ahead.
A very well taken goal from Paul Brennan, capped a great performance.
Bornacoola started better in the second half, but they were unable to cut the Gaels lead and goals from Stephen Mc Gurran and BB Brennan and some good scores from Packie Hill and Conor Sheridan ensured a comfortable victory for the Gaels.
Final score was Melvin Gaels 3-12, Bornacoola 0-7.
Well done to all concerned.
The next games for the Gaels are a senior league game on Saturday in Aughawillan and a Junior game on Sunday against Allen Gaels in Drumshanbo
Good Luck Patsy
The Club would like to wish Patsy Mc govern health and happiness in his retirement from the Gardai.
Thankfully he is continuing his great work for the Club.

Club Notes 13.04.2009
0Junior League v Glencar/Manorhamilton
On Saturday evening in Melvin Park, the Gaels Junior Team took on Glencar/Manorhamilton and succeeded in making it three wins in a row.
This was a hard fought, but deserved win for the Gaels.
Glencar/Manorhamilton went into the lead with an early goal, but the Gaels recovered and went into the break a point ahead, 0-4 to 1-0.
In the second half the Gaels went into a three point lead but Glencar/Manorhamilton fought back to draw level .
The Gaels recovered and finished two points ahead.
Final score Melvin Gaels 0-9, Glencar/Manorhamilton 1-4.
