A Good Weekend
The Senior team had a great win over a good Mohill team in Ballinamore on Saturday evening last. They got off to a good start but Mohill came back and levelled. A Gaels penalty ensured they lead by a goal at the break, 1-08 to 0-08.

They controlled the second half and were worthy winners on a scoreline of 2-12 to 1-11.

On Sunday the second team took on Aughnasheelin in the Intermediate Championship and secured a good win on a scoreline of 3-6 to 0-11.

It was also good to see Colin Regan back playing Championship football after his serious injury. He made a very good contribution in the win over Aughnasheelin in Drumkeerin.

Well done to all concerned.

Juniors Through to Final
The Juniors defeated Annaduff on Saturday evening in Drumshanbo to reach the Junior A Championship Final.

This was a hard fought entertaining game played in difficult conditions. The Gaels got off to a slow start but got their act together thanks to some great place kicking from young Peter McGowan who was one of the star players on the day and a Fergal Gallagher goal. Annaduff staged a great comeback when playing with the wind behind them in the second half. A great goal from Declan Roper and a last minute penalty from Peter McGowan secured a deserved five point victory for the Gaels.

This was again a great team performance from the Gaels and they now join the first team in making a county final this season.

Well done to Peter, Dessie, John and all the lads.

Senior League Game v Carrigallen
The first team had a comfortable league win over Carrigallen in a game which was played in Bundoran on Sunday because Melvin Park was not playable.

The storm force winds and driving rain made playing good football difficult but both sides produced decent patches of football. The Gaels seemed to cope better playing against the wind and finished with another good win.

Well done to all.

The Gaels played very well and came out on top in the end winning by two points,

The final score was Melvin Gaels 2-11 Drumkeerin 1-12.

The Gaels started well and a goal from Gaelsr Ciaran Daly, in his first game, meant the Gaels went into the break two points ahead.

The second half was also a close affair with Drumkeerin pulling ahead by four ponts close to the end and Tom Lipsett brought the sides level with a well taken goal.

Senior League v St Marys-Kiltoghert
On Saturday evening in Bundoran the Gaels senior team took on St Marys-Kiltoghert in the second senior league game of the year.

The game was played in Bundoran because Melvin Park was covered in snow at one o clock on Saturday.

There have been many close games between these two sides over the last few years and the Gaels usually came out second best, but on Saturday evening they produced a great display of good football and finished deserving winners on a scoreline of 0-16 to 1-04.

The Gaels got off to a poor start and St Marys were 1-01 to no score ahead after a few minutes. But Melvin Gaels then started to play well and scored six points from play to go in at the break just one point behind, 1-04 to 0-06.

In the second half the Gaels continued to play some great football and St Marys had no answer and they failed to register a score while Melvin Gaels added another ten points.

It would be difficult to pick a player that stood out for the Gaels because this was an all round good team performance.

The Melvin Gaels team and scorers was: Jesse Mc Guinness, Colm McGowan, Fabian McMorrow, Shane Ryan, Donal Clancy, Paul Brennan, Paul Mc Gurran (0-2), Martin McCarron, Stephen McGurran (0-3), Conor Sheridan (0-3), David McSharry (0-3), Joe McGowan, Emlyn Mulligan (0-2), BB Brennan (0-2) and Jonathan Connolly.

Subs: Stephen Clancy, Anthony Tiffoney (0-1), James Phelan, Dermot Clancy, Tom Lipsett, Sean Lipsett, Paul Rooney, Patrick Mc Gowan and Sean Kilkenny.

No Joy in First Game
The Seniors finished up losing to Mohill by three points on Saturday evening in Pairc Sean.

They performed reasonably well in the first half and were unlucky to go into the break a point behind, thanks to a late goal from Mohill. In the second half things seemed to go all wrong and the Gaels just could not put the ball over the bar.

Five points in any game is not good enough and things will have to improve greatly if they hope to progress any further in the Championship.

It will be a tough assignment again on Saturday evening against Sean O’Heslins.

Good luck to all the players and mentors.

Throw in for the game is 7.30pm.

Junior Championship Begins
