Club Notes 20.05.2013

Championships Begin!
This weekend sees the start of the Championship for the seniors and the Juniors. It seems a short time ago since October 7th 2012, the day when the Gaels were triumphant in the Senior Championship. The campaign, for the Seniors, for 2013 starts on Saturday evening in Drumshanbo when they take on Carrigallen in the first round. Good Luck to all the players and the management, Gerry and Seamus. Throw in for this game is 6pm.

On Sunday the Juniors play Bornacoola in the first round of the Junior A Championship. Good luck to Dessie, Gareth and all the lads. Throw in 3pm.

It’s hoped all the supporters, who followed the teams last year, will travel again this year and cheer on the both teams.

Good wins last weekend
The seniors had a good win over Annaduff in the Senior League on Sunday and the Juniors also beat Annaduff second team in Division 3.

Thanks to Bundoran G.A.A. Club for allowing the use of their facilities for both games.

Gaelic4Mothers
Melvin Gaels Gaelic4mothers and Others has resumed training outdoors in Melvin Park on Wednesday evenings at 8pm. This is a recreational initiative which focuses on teaching the basic skills of Gaelic football to women who have never played before or who have not played for a long time. New members always welcome. Contact Anne for more information 087 133 7968.

Lotto Draw
The numbers drawn in the Lotto Draw held in McGloin’s, Kinlough on Sunday night, May 19th were 3, 11, 17 and 24. There was no Jackpot winner. Other winners were, €40 James Warnock, Kinlough, €20 each Martin McLaughlin, Kinlough, Evelyn Rooney, Edenville and Marcus Mulligan, Laughta, Kinlough. Next draw in the Dew Drop Inn, Tullaghan, on Sunday June 9th, Jackpot €1050.00

Games Washed Out at the Weekend
Both the Senior game in Drumreilly and the Junior game against Aughavas in Melvin Park, were cancelled due to the pitches being unplayable at the weekend.

Games next weekend
On Saturday evening in Melvin Park the junior team take on Annaduff in a Division 3 League game and on Sunday, again in Melvin Park the seniors take on the Annaduff Seniors- see papers for times for these games.

The numbers drawn in the Lotto Draw held in the Gilbrides, Rossinver on Sunday night, May 5th were 1, 2, 4 and 7. Jackpot of €1250.00 was won by Brendan Mc Gowan, Drumacrin, Bundoran. Congratulations Brendan. Next draw in Mc Gloins Kinlough on Sunday May 19th, Jackpot €1,000.00

Club Notes 11.02.2013

The Senior League gets Under Way
The senior team travel to Dromahair on Sunday for the first league game of 2013. The throw in for this game is at 1.30pm. Good luck to Billy and all the lads.

Membership
Membership for 2013 is now due and it is the same as last year, €25 for adults. €10 for Under 18s and €50 for membership and lotto. There is also a Family membership of €50.

Membership should be paid to Ciara Barrett or any of the Committee

“Tour de Melvin” Fun Cycle Run
A Fun Cycle Run around Lough Melvin will be held on Sunday next in aid of the Melvin Gaels player’s injury fund and the Lydia Branley Trust Fund.

It will start at Kinlough Community Centre and will go around Lough Melvin finishing at the Community Centre where there will be refreshments.

Entry fee is €10 which will be donated to the funds. Registration commences at 9am. Draw on the day for prizes for entrants. Everyone welcome to take part.

Club Notes 05.11.2012

League Final
On Sunday next at 2.30pm in Pairc Sean the Senior team take on our neighbours Glencar/Manorhamilton for the second final this year. No doubt this League Final will be the usual close encounter.
Good luck to all the lads and Billy, Aiden and Liam.

Senior League v Aughawillan
On Sunday the Senior team made the long trip to Aughawillan for the last round game of the Senior League. The Gaels came away with a comfortable win. Well done to all involved. Thanks to the Aughawillan Club for providing a very welcome cup of tea and sandwiches after the game. Thanks to all the supporters whom came to the game.

Under 21 Championship
Good luck to the Under 21 lads on Saturday when they take on Dromahaire in Drumkeerin.

Lotto
The numbers drawn in the Melvin Gaels Lotto draw held in the Village Inn, Kinlough on Sunday October 28th were 4,6,11 and 14. There was no Jackpot winner. Other winners were, €40 Patsy Mc Govern, Ardfarna, Bundoran, €20 each Michael Gillen, Tawley, Simon Foley, Kinlough and Anthony O’Reilly, Kinlough.

Next draw on Sunday November 11th in Wellington Bar, Kinlough, Jackpot €1,550.

Dinner Dance
The Melvin Gaels Dinner Dance and presentation will take place in the Allingham Arms Hotel on Friday 7th December. The music will be by Beez Neez. Tickets will be on sale this weekend and they will cost €25 each and are available from any club member.

Anyone wishing to buy the new Club Hoodies please note that they are now for sale at Mc Gowan’s Spar, Kinlough.

Senior League v Kiltubrid
The senior team had a good win over Kiltubrid on Saturday evening in Melvin Park.

Gale force wind and driving rain made it difficult for both teams. Melvin Gaels seemed to cope better with the conditions and were in control from the beginning.

The final score was Melvin Gaels 2-07, Kiltubrid 0-02.

Games at the Weekend
On Friday evening the second team travel to Carrick-on-Shannon for a Division 3 League game. Throw in for this game is 8pm.

On Sunday there is a Shield game against Aughawillan at 3pm in Melvin Park.

Sympathy
The Club extends deepest Sympathy to the Gallagher Family, Edenville on the death of John’s mother Rose of Kiltyclogher, who died at the weekend.

Dogs on Pitch
In the interest of Health and Safety, dog owners are asked to please stop allowing their dogs to run freely and to foul on the playing and training areas at Melvin Park.

There are a lot of young children using the facilities at present and this has become a serious issue.

Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps
Registration is now under way for this summer’s Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps. Camps will be held during the month of July in Ck-on-Shannon, Manorhamilton, Ballinamore, Drumshanbo, Kinlough, Mohill, Aughavas, Dromahaire, Gortletteragh, Drumkeerin, Fenagh and Leitrim Village. The cost of attending is as follows: 1st child €55, 2nd child €45 with all additional brothers or sisters only €40. Applications can be made online at www.gaa.ie/kelloggsculcamps or please return a written application form to Páirc Seán MacDiarmada, Dublin Rd, Ck-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim. All children attending will receive a full camp kit including bag.

Games at Weekend
There will be a Senior League game v Kiltubrid in Melvin Park on Saturday evening at 7.30pm.

The second team travel to Carrick on Shannon for a Division 3 League game v St. Marys – this game is at presently fixed for Sunday at noon.

Lotto Jackpot Winner!
Congratulations to John Gallagher aka ‘Spring-a-Ring’, Edenville, Kinlough who won the Jackpot of €3,200.00.

The numbers drawn in the Melvin Gaels Lotto draw held in Mc Gloins, Kinlough on Sunday night May 13 were- 1,5,12 and 21.

Next draw on Sunday May 27 in The Wellington Bar, Kinlough. Jackpot €1,000.00.

Game v Glencar/Manorhamilton
The Seniors made the short trip to Manorhamilton on Saturday evening and were narrowly defeated by the home side.

This was a very close game which is always the case when these two teams meet.

The home side were more accurate in front of goal and secured a two point win.

The final score was Glencar/Manorhamilton 1-11, Melvin Gaels 2-6.

League Division 3 Game at Weekend
The second team make the long trip to Mohill on Saturday evening.

Throw in for this game is 7pm.

Sympathy
The club extends sympathy to the Bredin Family Edenville on the death of their mother Sarah. May she Rest in Peace.

Senior League v Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher
The senior team had a good win over Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher on Saturday in Melvin Park on Saturday. The Gaels led from the start and were always in control.

The final score was Melvin Gaels 2-14, Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher 0-5.

League Division 3 v Kiltubrid
On Sunday afternoon the Gaels second team took on Kiltubrid in Melvin Park and had a comfortable win. The final score was Melvin Gaels 2-14, Kiltubrid 0-9.

Game at weekend
On Friday evening the Seniors make the short trip to Manorhamilton for the Div 1 League game. Throw in is at 8pm.

Congratulations

Leitrim Supporters Club Draw Winners
Congratulations to Peter Carty, Garrison, Co Fermanagh who won the First Prize of €5,000 and Edward Gilmartin, Rossinver who won Third Prize of €1,000 in the recent Leitrim Supporters Club Draw.

Congratulations also to Patrick Mc Nulty, Rossinver, Co Leitrim who sold both these winning tickets. Patrick sells the tickets on behalf of Melvin Gaels GAA Club.

Games at Weekend
On Saturday the first team play Annaduff at 4pm in the senior league. On Sunday the second team play Carrigallen in League Division 3 in Melvin Park. Throw in for this game is 2pm.

Gaelic4mothers
Melvin Gaels Gaelic4mothers and Others programme resumes in Kinlough on Wednesday 25th April at 7pm. This is a fun, recreational programme which focuses on learning the basic skills of the game as well as increasing general fitness. It is open to women over 18 years old and there is no upper age limit. Participation in this programme offers women an opportunity to become more involved in their local club.
