Club Notes 9th September 2004

Senior B Championship
The Seniors play Glenfarne in a local derby in Round 1 of the Senior B Championship this Sunday evening at 6pm in the Bee Park, Manorhamilton.  Despite the fact that both teams are out of the main championship, this is sure to be a tightly contested match as most games between these teams have been in recent years.  With the game so near home and hurling finished on the telly there should be a good crowd out to support the lads.

Junior Championship Final
The Juniors play Leitrim Gaels in the Final.  This game is listed to be played in Carrick on Shannon on Saturday September 11th at 5pm.

It would be nice to see a good support from Kinlough for this game.  Leitrim Gaels will be tough opposition and all the experience in the Melvin Gaels Junior team will be needed.

Minor Final
Melvin Gaels Minor team play Drumkeerin this Thursday evening in Ballinaglera at 6:45pm.

This is a very good minor team with lots of potential.

Please come along and give the young future stars a bit of support.

50th Anniversary Celebrations
A function to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Melvin Gaels GAA Club is being held in the Great Northern Hotel Bundoran on Friday December 3.

This promises to be a memorable night for the Club and tickets will be going on sale shortly.  Tickets will be €30 each.  There will be a Four course meal and music will be by the local band Superfreaks.

Micheáil O Muirachairtaigh, well known radio commentator and GAA personality will be guest of honour.

A booklet is at present being prepared and it is hoped to have it ready for the night of the function.

A very important meeting is being held next Thursday night September 9 in Kinlough Community Centre and all past and present members of the Club are asked to attend. The meeting will be solely to prepare for these celebrations.

Club Information
As this is the 50th Anniversary of the Melvin Gaels Club it is hoped to gather as much information as possible concerning their 50 years in existence.

Anyone who has been associated with the club and has any items of interest e.g. paper cuttings, photographs etc.. is asked to get in contact with the secretary Joe McCarron at 071 9841390 or 087 9520036 or any present club member

Bord na Nog
Under 12 training continues every Saturday at 12 noon.

For any information contact Peter Sheridan at 087 7746935.

Under 10 Training continues each Saturday morning at 10.30am.

New member are always welcome at the training sessions. For more information Contact Patsy Mc Govern at 086 3768700.

Lotto
The next Lotto draw will be held on Sunday night in the Anglers Rest, Kinlough.  Profit from this draw is going to Sudan Appeal.

More sellers are required for the Lotto. This is the main Fundraiser for the Club and is vital for the continued running of the Senior Board and Board na Nog.

The work being carried out at Melvin Park could not be continued without the Funds raised by the Lotto.  To date the funds raised have assisted in constructing the Dugouts, Buying a Mower and construction of the Running Track and development of the Training Ground.

The proceeds of the Lotto are divided equally between Bord na Nog and the Senior Board , so it would be nice if more people involved in all age groups could assist in selling just a few lotto tickets.

If you would like to help and sell a few tickets contact the Bord na Nog Secretary, Stephen or the Senior Board Secretary, Joe Mc Carron.
