Club Notes 11th October 2004
Under 21 Game v Aughavas
On Saturday evening the Melvin Gaels Under 21 team made the long journey to
Aughavas to play Aughavas in the first round of the B Championship.
The Gaels came out winners on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-11.
This was a close hard fought match and the result was in doubt up to the last
few minutes. The Gaels played very well at times and they got off to a great
start with a goal from Thomas Lipsett in the first few minutes. They led by two
points at half time but early in the second half Aughavas drew level but the
Gaels then got in front and stayed ahead till the final whistle this was a great
win against a good Aughavas team and the displays by some of the younger players
on the Melvin Gaels team was encouraging and promising for the future.
The Melvin Gaels team and scorers was :
Michael Mc Gowan, Kalum Regan, Fabian Mc Morrow, Colm Mc Gowan, Kevin Kelly,
Paul Mc Gurran (0-2), BB Brennan(0-1), Stephen Mc Gurran (0-1), Joseph Mc
Gowan(0-1), Damien Sheridan, David Mc Sharry(0-6) and Thomas Lipsett (1-0)
Subs : Peter Mc Gloin, Brendan Mc Govern, Matthew Mc Gloin, Kieran Regan,
Christopher Branley Dermot Clancy and Blaine Mulligan
