Club Notes 11th May 2004
Senior Game V Aughavas
The senior team made the long journey to Aughavas last Sunday and were beaten on a scoreline of 1-9 to 1-7. This was a very close encounter and could have gone either way. The Gaels controlled periods of the game but could not get the vital scores. On the other hand Aughavas had few wides and this was the difference in the end.
On a positive note its good to see Aiden Dolan back. He performed well considering he has been out for so long. We need some more comebacks from injury and “retirement”.
The Melvin Gaels team and scorers was :
Gareth Phelan, Paul Mc Gurran,James Phelan, Matt Connolly, Colin Regan (0-3), Fabian Mc Morrow, Padraig Mc Gloin, BB Brennan(0-2), Aiden Dolan, David Mc Sharry (1-1), Damien Sheridan, Paul Lipsett, Thomas Lipsett (0-1), Martin Mc Carron and Michael Tiffoney.
Subs : Gareth Foley and Peter Mc Gloin.
Thanks to the Aughavas club for providing food after the game.
Junior Game V St Marys
On Saturday evening last the Juniors had a good win over St Marys at Carrick on Shannon in a Division 4 League game.
The Gaels had a comfortable win in the end on a scoreline of 2-9 to 0-6.
Again the Gaels had difficulty getting scores and in the first 15 minutes missed a number of scoring chances , including a penalty.
Overall there were some good performances , particularly from the younger players which is encouraging.
The Melvin Gaels team and scorers was:
Aaron Phelan, Kevin O’Flaherty, Adam Regan, Paul Lipsett, Colm Mc Gowan, Kevin Kelly, Joe Mc Gowan, Damien Sheridan, Paul Mc Gurran(1-4), Thomas Lipsett (0-1)David Gillespie(0-2), Blaine Mulligan, Seamus Gallagher, Peter Mc Gloin, Simon Foley.

Thanks to the St Marys Club for providing food after the game.
