Club Notes 31st August 2004
Senior Championship V Drumreilly
On Sunday evening the Melvin Gaels senior team went out of the Senior
Championship at the hands of Drumreilly. The Final Score was Drumreilly
2-12 Melvin Gaels 0-10.
In the first half Melvin Gaels played some very good football and were unlucky
to concede a goal and be behind at half time by two points. In the second half
an early goal by Drumreilly seemed to take the heart out Melvin Gaels and
Drumreilly went to win easily enough.
At the start of the Championship, we said the Gaels would struggle because of
the inexperience of some of the players and this proved to be true.
The loss of James Phelan proved to be a big blow to the Gaels on Sunday as his
experience is vital to the team.
The young players in the team played well during the Championship and the future
for the Gaels looks bright with some good minor players coming through for next
year.
The Gaels are now in the Senior B Championship and it would be nice to give this
a fair shot.
The Melvin Gaels team and scorers was:
Gareth Phelan, Padraig Mc Gloin, Fabian Mc Morrow, Matt Connolly, Paul Mc Gurran,
Joe Tiffoney, Colm Mc Gowan, Martin Mc Carron, BB Brennan, Colin Regan (0-2),
Damien Sheridan, Paul Mc Gowan, Thomas Lipsett (0-2), Shane Mc Carron (0-1)
David Mc Sharry (0-5).
Subs: Joe Mc Gowan and Fergal Mc Gowan.

as much information as possible concerning their 50 years in existence.

paper cuttings, photographs etc.. is asked to get in contact with the secretary
Joe McCarron at 071 9841390 or 087 9520036 or any present club member

Junior Championship
The Junior team have reached the Junior B Championship Final - without playing
any game. This must be some sort of record and happened because other
teams pulled out of the championship. This is not good for the Juniors and
they will be at a big disadvantage going into this final. Hopefully they
will still do well and win the Final.

50th Anniversary
December 3rd is the date set for the main function to celebrate the 50th
Anniversary of the Club.
So keep your Diary free for this date.
This Function will be held in the Great Northern Hotel Bundoran and will be
preceded by a Mass for the Club in Kinlough.
A well known Radio and TV personality will be the Special guest on the night.
It is hoped that as many past and present Gaels and friends of the Gaels will be
there for what promises to be a great occasion for the club.
Meeting
There will be a Club meeting on Wednesday night at 9pm.
As many club members as possible are asked to attend this meeting as
arrangements are now being made for the 50th Anniversary celebrations and more
people would be needed to help out.
Lotto
More sellers are required for the Lotto.
This is the main Fundraiser for the Club and is vital for the continued running
of the Senior Board and Board na Nog.
The work being carried out at Melvin Park could not be continued without the
Funds raised by the Lotto.
To date the funds raised have assisted in constructing the Dugouts, Buying a
Mower and construction of the Running Track and development of the Training
Ground.
The proceeds of the Lotto are divided equally between Bord na Nog and the Senior
Board , so it would be nice if more people involved in all age groups could
assist in selling just a few lotto tickets.
If you would like to help and sell a few tickets contact the Bord na Nog
Secretary, Stephen or the Senior Board Secretary , Joe Mc Carron.
