Club Notes 16th August 2004
Senior Championship v Aughavas
Last Sunday the Senior team played Aughavas in the second game of the Senior
Championship. This game was almost a replay of the game
against Gortletterragh. Aughavas were much better than the Gaels at taking their
chances and so came out winners. The game again could
have gone either way for a long period.
The Gaels had six under 21 players starting the game on Sunday and these players
performed well but maybe they need that bit more
experience, but the commitment of these players is excellent and no doubt things
will come right sooner rather than later
The final score was Aughavas 0-12, Melvin Gaels 1-5.
The Melvin Gaels team and scorers was : Gareth Phelan, Padraig Mc Gloin,
James Phelan, Matt Connolly, Paul Mc Gurran (1-0), Fabian Mc Morrow Joe Tiffoney,
Joe Mc Gowan, Martin Mc Carron, Tom Lipsett (0-1), Damien Sheridan, Paul Mc
Gowan, Colin Regan, Brendan Brennan(0-1), David Mc Sharry (0-3) Subs :
Colm Mc Gowan for Paul McGowan (15min), Michael Tiffoney for Joe Mc Gowan
(31min), Shane Mc Carron for Tom Lipsett (51min).
Game V Aughnasheelin
The Senior Championship continues next Sunday and the Gaels take on
Aughnasheelin in Pairc Sean, Carrick on Shannon at 7.30pm.
Good Luck to all concerned.

also a word of thanks to Al Connolly Butchers for their Sponsorship and also to
The Village Inn.
Membership
Membership is now due for this year and €20 should be paid as soon as possible
to Noel Mc Gowan. Entry to Lotto and membership for €50 can be paid if
anyone wishes.
Forms for this can be got from any club member.
Meeting
There will be a Club meeting on Wednesday night at 9pm.
As many club members as possible are asked to attend this meeting as
arrangements are now being made for the 50th Anniversary celebrations and more
people would be needed to help out.
Lotto
More sellers are required for the Lotto.
This is the main Fundraiser for the Club and is vital for the continued running
of the Senior Board and Board na Nog.
The work being carried out at Melvin Park could not be continued without the
Funds raised by the Lotto.
To date the funds raised have assisted in constructing the Dugouts, Buying a
Mower and construction of the Running Track and development of the Training
Ground.
The proceeds of the Lotto are divided equally between Bord na Nog and the Senior
Board , so it would be nice if more people involved in all age groups could
assist in selling just a few lotto tickets.
If you would like to help and sell a few tickets contact the Bord na Nog
Secretary, Stephen or the Senior Board Secretary , Joe McCarron.
