Senior
Both Melvin Gael’s senior and junior team made the long trip to
Carrigallen on Saturday. The seniors were lucky to come away with a draw in the end
missing six scoring chances in the first 10 minutes. It was a poor first half, which
certainly didn’t see Gaels giving their best performance. Michael Tiffoney was
unfortunate near half time when he collided with one of Carrigallen’s players and
subsequently broke his leg. James Phelan saved the day with a goal in the second
half. Final score 1-11 to 1-11. Best performances by Gareth Phelan, Padraig Mc Gloin
and James Phelan. Our newcomer Mick Mc Gowan has also to be complemented on his
excellent performance in both the senior and junior game.
Junior
The junior team had a more convincing win 2-14 to 3-8 good performances by
Brendan Brennan, Ciaran Clancy and Sean Lipsett.
Thanks to Carrigallen Officials for the manner in which they looked after Michael Tiffoney
after obtaining his injury – they quickly got a doctor and ambulance for the lad. We
wish Michael Tiffoney a speedy recovery from all the club!
