DETERMINED Allen Gaels retained their Leitrim title in a dour county SFC final at Carrick-on-Shannon in a game where 15 of the 18 scores came from frees.

Donnacha Lynch put Allen Gaels into a 0-4 lead when converting successive frees but Melvin Gaels hit back through two pointed frees from Liam Gilmartin.

Allen Gaels struck first after the restart when Alan McKeon increased their lead with a point from play after just 10 seconds. Denis Gibbons added another from play 50 seconds later.

Points from a '45 and a 13 metre free by Gilmartin reduced the Allen Gaels lead to 0-2 but they hit back when Donnacha Lynch converted a 17th minute free. 

Allen Gaels killed off the Melvin Gaels challenge with three unanswered points.
