UNDERDOGS Gortletteragh, inspired by brilliant county star Seamus Quinn, pulled off a sensational shock result in yesterday's Leitrim senior football semi-final at Carrick-on-Shannon when they completely routed former champions Allen Gaels.

Terry Kellegher put Gortletteragh on the road to victory with a goal after 10 minutes and just before the break he set up Frank Flynn for a second to give them a 2-5 to 0-1 lead.

Allen Gaels hit back with four points without reply in the opening ten minutes of the second half, but Sean Colreavy sealed victory for Gortletteragh with a a superb individual goal.

Man of the match Quinn limped off with a leg injury in the closing minutes and is now doubtful for the Irish Compromise Rules team to play Australia next Sunday.

THE scoring exploits of Fintan McBrien and Padraig McLoughlin helped Aughavas to an impressive win over Melvin Gaels in the first of the weekend's two Leitrim SFC semi-finals at Carrick-on-Shannon.

Aughavas always had the upperhand and led by 0-6 to 0-2 at the interval.
